The Utah County Sheriff's Office K9 team participated in the annual Utah Police Officers Association K9 Trials.

The statewide competition included 70 teams from police agencies and civilian search and rescue teams across the state.

We are very pleased to announce that our team performed exceptionally well and won numerous awards, which include:

Top Agency 3rd Place Team Award
Participating team members were Deputies Brett Lawrenson, David Balmforth, Adam Collings and John Thomas.

Deputy David Balmforth won two individual awards:
1st place Tactical Obedience
3rd place Obedience

Deputy Brett Lawrenson won six individual awards:
1st place Top Handler / Trial Champion. (First time for the UCSO)
1st place Apprehension
1st place Area Search
2nd place Tactical Obedience
2nd place Obedience
5th place Building Search

The K9 team, under the direction of Sergeant Rhett Williams is an extremely dedicated and well trained unit. They respond on numerous calls for service throughout the year and do an excellent job with their K9 partners. We can all be very proud of their accomplishments and how well they represent the Sheriff's Office. This team is one of the best in the state and continues to provide responsible and professional service to the citizens of Utah County.
