American Fork - With American Fork Main Street traffic moved over to the new bridge over Interstate 15, UDOT will now demolish the former Main Street bridge.

In order to safely demolish the bridge it will be necessary to close I-15 underneath the bridge. Freeway traffic will be diverted over the on and off-ramps beginning Saturday December 5 at 10 p.m. and concluding Sunday December 6 at 9:30 a.m.

Main Street from Kawakami Drive to 1020 West in American Fork will also close during the demolition. The closure will begin at 9 p.m. Saturday. Main Street will reopen by 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Motorists will need to use U.S. 89 (State Street) to Main Street in Lehi as an alternative route. Construction of the north bridge for the new diverging diamond interchange (DDI) at Main Street will begin once the existing bridge has been demolished.

Work on the American Fork Main Street freeway bridge is part of both the Pioneer Crossing road project and the I-15 CORE reconstruction project. The DDI is scheduled for completion in late summer 2010.
