Parents Arrested For Child Endangerment-Weapon Charge For Third Adult

Following the execution of a search warrant the parents of a 14 year old boy were arrested for child endangerment and drug charges. Another adult man was arrested on drug and weapon charges.

On the evening of Tuesday, April 18, 2017 narcotics officers with Spanish Fork Police Department and the Utah County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at a home in Spanish Fork. These detectives had been investigating drug activity at this home for a couple of months. After entering the home they found, in several different areas, approximately two ounces of marijuana, along with drug paraphernalia. Also found in the home were four different firearms that belonged to one of the adults.

After entering the home investigators discovered there was a 14 year old boy there. His parents, Edwin Lee Steward, age 37, and Valerie Steward, age 37, told investigators they regularly allowed their son to smoke marijuana. He was also regularly exposed to drugs and paraphernalia in the home. They were each charged with Child Endangerment, a 3rd degree felony, and class B misdemeanor charges of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug paraphernalia. The third adult in the home, Wesley Morse Vivian, age 35, was the owner of the firearms that were found during the search. He was booked into jail on four 3rd degree felony charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Category II Restricted person and class B misdemeanor charges of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
