The Utah County Sheriff's Office conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Geneva Road between Provo and Orem. Deputies arrested people for DUI, felony and misdemeanor drug violations, and alcohol offenses.
On October 31, 2013, the Utah County Sheriff's Office, as part of the Utah Highway Safety Office "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Zombies Against Drunk Driving" (www.zombiesagainstdrunkdriving.com) Halloween DUI enforcement campaigns, conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Geneva Road between Provo and Orem (SR-114 MM4). The checkpoint was operated from 9:00 P.M. until 3:00 A.M. on November 1.
18 people from the Utah County Sheriff's Office, Utah Division of Parks and Recreation-Utah Lake State Park, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, and Utah Highway Patrol participated. During the course of operate the following arrests and other actions were made: 6 DUI arrests, 15 felony and misdemeanor drug arrests, 5 alcohol arrests, 3 traffic citations, and 5 vehicle impounds.
Unfortunately this location, on this day of the year, is very productive. Fortunately law enforcement officers were there to take these impaired drivers off the road. Some of the DUI arrests were alcohol related and others were drug related.
