The continuum of care for substance abuse treatment ranges from general outpatient treatment for the least severe substance abuse clients to high intensity residential treatment and detoxification services for the most severely addicted.
The State of Utah and the Division of Substance Abuse provides a vertically integrated continuum of care according to the most currently published American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Patient Placement Criteria. These services include general outpatient treatment for both adults and youth, intensive outpatient treatment for adults and youth, , methadone maintenance for adults addicted to opiate drugs, medium intensity residential treatment for adults, and substance abuse intervention for incarcerated adults within the Utah County Security Center. Detoxification services and medium intensity residential treatment are available at Utah County’s Foothill Treatment Center.
